Why So Crazy in Arms Assistance?

Date: 26/04/2022 | Source: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EN) | Read original version at source

The U.S. and the Western countries are now crazier in arms assistance to Ukraine when the international society shows ever-growing concern over the prolonged Ukrainian crisis.

Particularly, the U.S. and the NATO member states openly claimed that they should not sort the weapons provided to Ukraine into offensive and defensive ones while mentioning about Ukraine’s “exercise of right to self-defence” to repel Russia’s “aggression”, and they are delivering on a large scale not only the defensive weapons such as anti-aircraft and anti-tank missile but also heavy weapons including tank and cannon.

According to the media reports, the U.S. is currently flying 8 to 10 cargo planes almost every day to transport weapons delivered to Ukraine by the Western countries. It is also said that there is an endless procession of arms assistance by the West on the ground as well.

Recently, the U.S. conspired together with its major allies in the West against Russia reaffirming its position to beef up military assistance to Ukraine, and it submitted to the Congress a new military aid program worth US$ 800 million.

If this is realized, the military aid provided to the Kiev regime by the U.S. since the start of the Ukrainian crisis will amount to as much as US$ 3 billion.

According to the data, the military aid list published by the U.S. this time includes 72 pieces of 155mm howitzers, 144,000 cannonballs, 72 howitzer tractors, and 121 tactical drones.

EU member states are also vying with the U.S. They are in a flurry of activity announcing aid program of military equipment worth € 500 million for Ukraine with large chunk of it being delivery of heavy weapons.

With regard to this, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations condemned the U.S. and the West for stirring up a warlike spirit of the Kiev regime by delivering weapons to Ukraine.

The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation warned that the U.S. and the West’s means of transporting weapons will legally be the military targets of Russian forces throughout the Ukrainian territory.

As has been commented by the experts on international affairs, the intention of the U.S. of providing a huge amount of military equipment to Ukraine in collusion with its allies is to weaken Russia continuously in a war of attrition by driving Ukraine to a fight with Russia.

It is also to satisfy the interests of the U.S. munition monopolies which are fattened through the blood of humankind with the Ukrainian crisis as an occasion, and to tighten its grip on the European countries and maintain its supremacy by aggravating the security situation of the region.

The U.S. has made an inveterate habit down through history to fish in troubled waters by sacrificing others for the sake of its selfish purpose. Its ill-willed behavior of waging a “proxy war” through arms assistance to Ukraine will inevitably provoke a strong response from Russia.
