Before matches including those of soccer, basketball and volleyball, the players always warm up.
Why?
If players starts an intense exercise without an enough warm-up, their blood vessel system or respiratory system is unable to accommodate to it instantly, making it impossible for them to fully display their ability in games.
Muscles or joints of the whole body will also not adapt soon, and the player will feel difficulty and have oxygen deficit with the increasing intensity of the exercise, accompanied by rupture of muscles, joint damage and, if serious, unexpected trauma.
Therefore, players should fully warm up before intensive exercises and matches to make functions of all systems of the body reach appropriate physiological conditions, so as to be fully ready to display their abilities as much as possible and prevent any accident.
