The finals of the Agricultural Workers Games-2024 took place at PyongyangIndoor Stadium on March 5.
The finals were seen by Premier Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of thePolitical Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea andvice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People'sRepublic of Korea, Ju Chol Gyu, department director of the Central Committee ofthe WPK, Kim Il Guk, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, Han Jong Hyok,chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers ofKorea, chairpersons of provincial (cities under the direct control of thegovernment) rural economy committees, exemplary agricultural workers and Pyongyangcitizens.
Prior to the final matches, Ri Chol Man, vice-premier of the Cabinet andchairman of the Agricultural Commission, made a speech.
He called upon all the participants to fully display the united strength ofthe collective and sports techniques in the finals so as to clearly prove thevalidity and vitality of the Party's policy on mass sports activities and makepositive contributions to the implementation of the programme for the ruralrevolution in the new era.
There were a march-past of teams from all the provinces and a demonstrationof gymnasts before the final matches of each sports event.
Players displayed thesports techniques they honed during the worthwhile working life to reapbumper harvest and noble sportsmanship and fair play in women’s volleyball,ssirum (Korean wrestling), tug of war and various amusement games.
There was a demonstration of Taekwon-Do players and instructors.
North Hwanghae Province won the games in team standings, with Pyongyang andSouth Hwanghae Province coming second and third respectively.
Diplomas were awarded to excellent teams.
The finals of theAgricultural Workers Games-2024 served as an occasion for showing therevolutionary spirit and enthusiasm of agricultural officials and workers who haveturned out to attain the grain production goal for this year with greaterconfidence and redoubled efforts true to the action programme set forth by thegreat Party Central Committee and for arousing enthusiasm for mass sports inthe whole country.
