Recently, the U.S. is claiming that it will “loose sanctions” on Cuba. However, Cuba is thoroughly and firmly adhering to the principles of mutual respect and equality and independent stand in its relations with the U.S., having no illusion about lifting of sanctions.

Not long ago, Biden administration issued the so-called measure which will allow partial “lifting of restrictions” on Cuba. That, in fact, allows the Americans to travel to Cuba only under a certain condition. This is nothing more than a trick to calm down anti-U.S. sentiments running high among the countries in the Latin American region by hoodwinking Cuba under the signboard of “sanctions relief”.

In relation to this, Bruno Rodriguez, Cuban foreign minister said on June 8 that the measure taken by the U.S. administration to ease the ban on travel and transfer of funds to Cuba is highly restrictive. He also disclosed that the economic blockade and more than 200 tough sanctions against Cuban people imposed by Trump administration are still in force.

Cuban people did not make a compromise with their revolutionary principles and have firmly defended socialism under constant sanctions and blockade of the U.S. They are well aware that the appeasement policy of the U.S. is, in essence, a trick seeking regime change, and they are full of determination not to be taken in by the U.S. tricks as well as confidence in victory as befits the descendants of Fidel Castro.

Miguel Diaz-Canel, President of the Republic of Cuba, in his recent speech, said that the aim of the U.S. hostile policy does not change, nor does the major means to achieve it, i.e. economic, trade and financial embargoes and designation of Cuba as a “state sponsor of terror”. He also assured that the anti-Cuban schemes of the imperialists are doomed to failure. His speech clearly shows the staunch will of the Cuban people to stand up to the U.S. maneuvers to the end.

The world progressive peoples are demanding that the U.S. lift its 60-year-long blockade on Cuba and are appealing to the international society to extend full support to and solidarity with the Cuban people in their efforts for defending sovereignty and peaceful development.

We highly appreciate the Cuban people who are firmly maintaining their revolutionary principles without slightest vacillation even under brutal and harsh sanctions of hostile forces, not being shaken by any appeasement policy of the U.S. They are succeeding the tradition of the preceding generations who tided over difficult times including the “Caribbean crisis” in the 1960s and the “special period in peaceful time” in the 1990s.

Only victory and glory await the Cuban people who are safeguarding sovereignty and dignity of the country and the gains of the revolution, advancing vigorously along the road of socialism. We will always fight shoulder to shoulder with the Cuban people at the forefront of anti-U.S. and anti-imperialist struggle.
