Agricultural workers and members of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea had a celebration meeting at the Hall of Culture of the Mangyongdae Vegetable Farm in Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang, on August 12 to mark the 77th anniversary of national liberation.
It was attended by Hong Chol Jin, secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, officials concerned, and officials of the union and other farmers.
Han Jong Hyok, chairman of the UAWK Central Committee, made a report, which was followed by other speakers.
August 15 when President Kim Il Sung achieved the historic cause of national liberation by leading the arduous anti-Japanese war to victory was the day of great significance which put an end to the history of national sufferings beset with twists and turns and effected a fundamental turn in shaping the destiny of Korea and its people, the speakers stressed.
They referred to the need for all the agricultural workers and members of the UAWK to add luster to Kim Il Sung ’s idea of and exploit in building a prosperous nation and give full play to their great revolutionary enthusiasm and patriotic devotion in the effort to implement the tasks set forth at the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the plenary meetings of the WPK Central Committee.
