The first-term camping began at the Songdowon International Children’s Camp.
Its opening ceremony took place on September 20.
It was attended by Kim Su Gil, chief secretary of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, officials concerned and officials and teaching staff of the camp and campers.
The participants laid a flower basket and made a bow before the statues of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il at the camp.
A signal trumpet for the start of the camping sounded, to be followed by the hoisting of a camping flag amid the playing of “March of the Children’s Union”.
After the ceremony, a march-past of campers took place.
The campers will enjoy themselves by reading e-books, playing colourful sports and amusement games and cooking in the camp which has been renovated into a comprehensive base for extracurricular activities on the picturesque shore of the East Sea of Korea.
Meanwhile, camping started at the Mangyongdae Children’s Camp, the Sogam Children’s Camp and other camps in different parts of the country.
