A combination of gymnastics and dance, gymnastic dance is a type of physical art that shows aspects of life in a staged setting with modelling and dancing rhythmic movements consisting of different gymnastic movements as its main means of representation.
Gymnastic dance highlights overall ideological and thematic content of dance pieces as it organically combines gymnastic, formative, dancing and rhythmic tunes with the main representation means of stage art such as music, costume, tool, art, background, light and others, into a single representation system.
It helps schoolgirls develop their bodies in a harmonious and all-round way and grow in stature.
As it consists of movements that can have impact on all parts of body, including partial movement, walking, jumping, spinning and handstand, it has good influence on girls’ physiological growth. It is also nimble, beautiful and rhythmic since it involves movements with delicate and divergent characters performed to the tune of musical melody and rhythm.
Therefore, it suits the psychology of schoolgirls who like something emotional.
In gymnastic dance, almost all movements assume collectivist character and include large numbers of different and complicated formative movements so that students can train collectivist spirit, bravery, boldness and strong will.
