U.S. Arms Sale Disturbs Global Peace and Security

Date: 28/09/2022 | Source: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EN) | Read original version at source

Recently, it has been revealed that the U.S. military equipment being sold to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates by the U.S. are used for killing civilians. This is provoking the international criticism.

On September 7 and 8, the “New York Times” and the CBS reported that the U.S. has failed to supervise and inspect properly the use of US$ 54.6 billion worth military equipment sold to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates between 2015 and 2020, killing a number of civilians.

The media revealed that the U.S. fighters bombed a village where a funeral ceremony was taking place, killing more than 140 civilians and they also bombed a bus packed with the schoolchildren going for a field practice, killing 44 schoolchildren. Apart from this, in Yemen alone, they killed more than 150,000 civilians.

These are not all.

After the Ukrainian crisis broke out, the U.S. provided Ukraine with military equipment amounting to US$ 15 billion. This caused lots of civilian casualties and destruction of not a few civilian infrastructure.

On July 17, the Russian investigation committee revealed that the Ukrainian forces armed with military equipment provided by the U.S. and the West, on July 13, 14 and 16 – on these three days alone –indiscriminately attacked several cities of the People's Republic of Donetsk and the People’s Republic of Luhansk, killing and injuring tens of civilians, destroying about 100 dwelling houses, schools and kindergartens, leaving a large number of people homeless.

The U.S. Administration, despite the strong protest and rejection at home and abroad, does not suspend the arms sales to other countries under the pretext of “defence-purposed aid”. Behind this lies an extremely selfish calculation of the U.S. that only cares about earning pecuniary interest by lining the pockets of the enterprises of munitions industry.

Recently, the U.S. has approved the plan for US$ 1.1 billion worth arms sale to Taiwan. This caused the aggravation of the situation in the region. This fact clearly proves once again that the U.S. act of selling the arms is a crime that disturbs peace and stability of the world.

The U.S. should stop its arms sale that destroys the global peace and stability and should be duly punished for its crimes against humanity.
