The locals still remember Kil Son Hui, who was active as a forward of the DPRK junior women’s football team.
She began to play football in the football club of then Kilju Primary School, Kilju County. She soon cut a conspicuous figure as she was fast and good at dribbling, so she trained football skills at Kilju County juvenile sports school after a few years.
Later, she was picked out by the Rimyongsu Sports Club.
Quick in action with a broad view of play, she contributed to the team’s win by playing an important role as a forward with a special technique of person-to-person breakthrough.
She was enlisted in the national team already in her teens, offering valuable help to her team’s finishing in the top three at several international events.
Kil was awarded the titles of Labour Hero and People’s Athlete when state commendations were conferred on junior women football players after they won the Third World Junior Women’s Football Championships.
It was partly attributable to her contribution that later the DPRK women’s soccer team achieved brilliant successes in the 15th and 16th Asian Women’s Football Championships, women’s football event of the 15th Asian Games and other international tournaments.
After retiring from the sport with great achievements, she graduated from Korea University of Physical Education. Now she works as a women’s football coach of the Rimyongsu Sports Club, putting her heart and soul into training excellent football players.
