China Slams U.S. and Japan for Aggravating Military Tension in the Region

Some time ago, the U.S. and Japan held Foreign and Defense Ministers’ Meeting in Washington. During the meeting, they denounced China as the “biggest strategic challenge to Indo-Pacific and other regions” and issued a so-called joint statement about expanding military cooperation between the U.S. and Japan to cope with it.
In this regard, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China said that the U.S.-Japan joint statement is suffused with groundless tarnishing of and attack on China. He then continued as follows:
In words, the U.S. and Japan safeguard peace and security of the region. But in reality, they find excuses for war and create division and confrontation by forming different groups of isolation and chauvinism.
They also flagrantly interfere in the internal affairs of other countries in violation of international law and fundamental norms governing the international relations although they talk much about protecting rules-based international order.
Such behaviors constitute realistic challenge to peace, security and stability of the region.
The U.S. and Japan should get rid of cold war mentality and ideological prejudice and not make a potential enemy. We strongly demand that they do not create confusion in the Asia-Pacific region by disseminating cold war mentality in the region.
Meanwhile “China Daily”, “Global Times” and other major Chinese media revealed that the U.S. is fanning up Japan’s militarization in order to achieve its sinister intention by using this country as a proxy like Ukraine. They also warned that Japan could end up being another Ukraine in East Asia if it continues to create confusion in the Asia-Pacific region and stands as a shock brigade for the U.S.
Under the pretext of “threat” from China, Japan adopted three major documents on security in December 2022, the gist of which is to increase defense expenditure and possess “counterattack capability”. As a result, it completely gave up its principle of “total defense” it stipulated in the constitution as a defeated nation of World War II.
Today, many countries of the world are expressing strong concern over the rearmament of Japan. But only one country, that is the U.S., is only too glad to instigate Japan’s wild ambition for military power.
It is crystal clear that Japan’s reckless moves to rush into the road of arms expansion under the patronage of the U.S. will inevitably invite serious consequences to the peace and stability of the region.
Progressive people aspiring after justice and peace should sharpen vigilance for and firmly reject the dangerous moves of the U.S. and Japan which seeking military confrontation in the Asia-Pacific region and bring dark clouds of war.
