It was on February 16 1954 when young Kim Jong Il greeted his birthday for the first time after the war.
While preparing his book wrapper to go to school early in the morning, he suddenly opened the lid of his lunch box.
The lunch box was filled with boiled rice, so he went to the kitchen and asked the woman cook to refill his lunch box.
When the woman asked him why as she received the lunch box in her bewilderment, he said that since all his classmates ate boiled rice mixed with other cereals, he should do the same.
Seeing the woman much perplexed, he said he was grateful for her sincerity, but he would feel at ease when eating boiled rice mixed with corn like others, thus getting her to refill the box with boiled rice mixed with cereals.
She shed tears silently as she refilled the box with boiled rice and cereals.
