Recently, disastrous abnormal climatic phenomena occur frequently.
Therefore, the Central Meteorological Forecasting Station of the State Hydro-meteorological Administration pays close attention to ensuring accuracy in short-, medium- and extended-range weather forecast. In order to ensure accuracy in short-range forecast, the station is positively promoting the work of developing a more rational precipitation forecast system and a disastrous climatic phenomena search system and improve the scientific level of short-range numerical weather prediction.
It also developed a recognition system for analogue on weather chart and introduced an advanced adjustment method to improve the system of predicting disastrous climatic phenomena which might occur in some days. It makes it possible to ensure accuracy of medium-range forecast at a higher level.
In order to improve long-range agricultural weather forecast, it is establishing a more scientific method of forecasting heavy rain expected in spring predicting such climatic data as temperature, precipitation and sunshine rate every ten days for scores of days.
It is also directing great efforts to raising the scientific accuracy of prediction of crop growth and agrometeorological report.
