Inscribed in the sacred annals of history of the friendship between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) are the immortal feats of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who gave new vitality to the DPRK-PRC friendly relations through energetic diplomatic activities that started with his meaningful first step on the vast expanse of Chinese territory.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un paid an unofficial visit to the People’s Republic of China at the invitation of the General Secretary Xi Jinping five years ago from March 25 to 28, 2018. It was his first foreign visit and was made with an intention to invariably maintain the long-standing tradition of DPRK-PRC friendship, fulfill the revolutionary obligation, and to successfully carry forward the bilateral relations from generation to generation.

Comrade Xi Jinping received respected Comrade Kim Jong Un as their highest state guest and hosted a special luncheon at Yangyuanzhai in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, the very place where President Kim Il Sung shared friendly feelings with his comrades - Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and Deng Xiaoping. During the luncheon there, Comrade Xi Jin Ping accorded the sincerest and warmest hospitality to Comrade Kim Jong Un , strengthening the personal ties with him in a family setting.

Comrade Xi Jinping, in his speech made at a grand banquet arranged in honor of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un ’s visit to China, said that the traditional PRC-DPRK friendship is the unique one forged in blood, and it serves as a source of happiness for the peoples of two countries, just as eternal spring would do for an evergreen tree. He also underlined the need for both sides to value, safeguard and glorify the friendship - the common asset to the two countries.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , in turn, warmly congratulated Comrade Xi Jinping on his election as the president of the state. He expressed the steadfast will of our Party and the government to develop onto a new stage the DPRK-PRC friendly relationship which was forged in the sacred joint struggle for the socialist cause and which has maintained its original character despite all tempests of history, true to the noble intentions of the preceding leaders.

The first historic visit to China made by respected Comrade Kim Jong Un opened a brilliant chapter in the chronicles of the DPRK-PRC friendship. It served as a noteworthy event which provided a radical milestone in expanding and developing onto a new higher stage the long-standing friendly relations between the DPRK and China.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un had four rounds of significant meetings and talks with Comrade Xi Jinping in Beijing and Pyongyang respectively in less than a year’s time since his visit, during which he gave a strong impetus to the development of the new friendly DPRK-PRC relations based on the genuine comradeship.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent a congratulatory message to Comrade Xi Jinping on March 10, 2023 and warmly congratulated him on his reelection as the President of the People’s Republic of China. This demonstrated once again the close personal ties between the two leaders and the special character of the DPRK-PRC relations with socialism at its core.

Thanks to the wise leadership of the leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the DPRK and China will continue to strengthen and develop giving full play to their vitality.
