It is the appearance in the present era of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, where the greater the difficulties are, the higher the people’s laughter rises, and their happiness is being brought earlier by dint of their strong spirit and dynamic advance despite the unprecedented manifold challenges.

It is the ideal of the Workers’ Party of Korea to turn the country into a socialist state, where people enjoy the highest level of civilization to their heart’s content and live a comfortable and harmonious life, into a socialist paradise overflowing with their laughter.

The words people’s laughter implies profound meaning.

It is because people’s laughter in a country does not come of its own accord even though it has a history of hundreds of years of nation building or has favourable geopolitical conditions or huge resources.

People’s laughter is the first and foremost yardstick for evaluating the national strength of the DPRK.

That is why the Party regards it as its noble ideals to build a paradise where people’s laughter resounds day and night, and is striving to translate the ideals one by one with credit in the face of manifold difficulties.

In the past over ten years, many bases for cultural and recreational activities for the people have been built in the country, including the Rungna People’s Recreation Ground, Munsu Water Park, Masikryong Ski Resort and Mirim Riding Club.

A multi-functional and complex sports and cultural resort that serves hot spring bath, skiing and riding, was built in the area of the Yangdok hot spring.

The palatial baby homes, orphanages and primary and secondary schools for orphans have been built in various parts of the country, and orphans are growing up there without envy.

The state supplies the students and schoolchildren all over the country with new school uniforms, satchels and school things free of charge.

Samjiyon in a northernmost part of the country was renovated into a model mountainous city, and a large greenhouse farm was built in the area of Jungphyong.

In recent years, the country had repeatedly been hit by flooding, heavy rains and typhoons. Not only industrial establishments and farmland were destroyed, but also many people were left homeless. Each time, the state set the housing construction as the primary task for rehabilitation and concentrated all its manpower, material and technical potentials on the project lest the victims suffer from the oncoming winter cold. Thus, many dwelling houses were built in these areas in a short span of time and the flood victims moved into their new houses which were provided to them free of charge.

Last year alone, the Pothonggang Riverside Terraced Houses District and 10 000 flats in Songhwa Street were built in the capital city of Pyongyang, and labour innovators, scientists, technicians and other ordinary working people moved into them. Moreover, innovative entities of rural rejuvenation have made appearance one after another, presenting scenes of farmers moving into new houses.

Another vast farm demonstrating the civilization in the new era was built in the Ryonpho area of the country. It consists of over 850 blocks of modern, intensive and industrialized hydroponic and soil greenhouses covering 280 hectares, as well as over 1 000 houses, schools, a hall of culture and comprehensive service facilities. The farm will supply fresh vegetables to the people in Hamhung and South Hamgyong Province.

And projects of epoch-making significance in achieving civilization earlier, including the regional-industry factories in Kimhwa County, have been completed, giving pleasure to the people.

This year, too, construction of 10 000 flats as the second stage in the Hwasong area, the construction of a new street in the Sopho area and the construction of a large-scale greenhouse farm in the Kangdong area are going on full steam in Pyongyang. The Komdok area, a leading nonferrous mineral production base in the country, has been built into a model of mining city, a mountain-gorge city, and the construction of modern houses is being actively promoted in the rural communities throughout the country.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un once said that it is the ideal and goal of the Party to turn the country into a grand socialist paradise filled with people’s happy laughter, and he devotes his all to this end, regarding all the dreams and aspirations of the people, to say nothing of children, as his own wish.

As the people uphold Kim Jong Un, their benevolent father who dedicates his all for the sake of their happy laughter, their beautiful dreams are now being translated into reality in the face of countless unheard-of hardships.

A socialist paradise will surely be built on this land, where the noble ideals of Kim Jong Un have come true.
