On September 9 1981, Chairman Kim Jong Il continued his field inspection tour of South Hamgyong Province. It was the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the DPRK.
The Chairman was busy dealing with state affairs from the early morning.
So an official quietly asked him to have a rest on the day as it was holiday that day.
He tenderly held a hand of the official and led him to the front of his desk and said that if we could increase production and improve the people’s living standards true to the intention of President Kim Il Sung, it would be the best rest. He wanted to look round several units, but he could not because he did not want to interrupt their officials and employees enjoying the pleasant holiday, he said, asking him to discuss with him the work of the province.
And he gave precious instructions on how to solve the knotty problems arising in the economic work of the province and indicated the ways to further improve the people’s living standards one by one without a moment’s rest.
The whole life of the Chairman was indeed that of devotion to the people and prosperity of the country during which he made untiring efforts day and night without holidays and rest days.
