Recently, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry made following statement in response to Yoon Suk Yeol’s nonsensical remarks on the Taiwan issue at his interview with the British news agency “Reuters”.
There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory.
Taiwan issue entirely belongs to the internal affairs of China, and it is at the top of China’s core interests.
Settling the Taiwan issue is a matter of the Chinese people and unwanted meddling of others is not acceptable.
The main cause of the tense situation in the Taiwan Strait in the recent years is attributable to the forces “seeking independence of Taiwan” within the island who are pursuing division under the support and connivance of outside forces.
“Independence of Taiwan”, and peace and stability are contradictory to each other.
“Independence of Taiwan” should be unequivocally opposed and foreign intervention be rejected in order to safeguard the stability of the Taiwan Strait and peace and security of the region.
The spokesperson concluded by demanding south Korea to scrupulously respect the principle of One China and show prudence in dealing with the Taiwan issue.
