Entering the new school year, new comers to primary and middle schools, colleges and universities across the country were supplied with Sonamu -brand satchels, as well as uniforms, footwear and school things.

All pupils, full of joy, go to schools with the satchel on their back.

The satchel imprinted with the pictures of heroes of popular animations and other drawings as suited to children’s sentiments is a companion close to their life.

It contains Mindulle -brand notebooks, Haebaragi -brand school things and textbooks.

The manageress of the Pyongyang Bag Factory said: The satchels produced in our factory are associated with the meticulous loving care of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to provide schoolchildren with better things.

He ensured that a new bag canvas production line was set up in the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill, and initiated the building of our factory and oversaw the whole course of the project. He examined hundreds of bag designs and sent a bag trademark “Sonamu” (pine tree in Korean).

The trademark reflects his ennobling intention to bring up the rising generations like a strong pine tree that remains evergreen even under the snow.

Saying that it was the Party’s intention to provide children with quality and smart bags made at home, he visited our factory in January Juche 106 (2017) as the first leg of his visit of the year. Paying close attention even to the thickness of straps, he gave instructions to make bags well.

He said he felt delighted as he imagined children going to and from school happily with the smart satchels on their back and that only when we made by ourselves everything necessary for our children could they have a sense of true patriotism whereby they valued their own things.

Keeping in mind his loving care for the rising generations, we are making innovations in the production of satchels with the mind of making our own children’s bags.

After the inauguration of the Pyongyang Bag Factory, similar factories have been built in all provinces.

The Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held at the end of 2021 stressed that the supply of school uniforms and things to the students across the country at the state’s expense is a consistent policy of the Party and the state, and set forth a task to supply all students with quality uniforms and satchels of new forms and took an important measure to this end.

Today, all students in the country, be they in urban, rural or mountainous areas, go to school shouldering Sonamu -brand satchels.
