The West Censured for Threatening World Peace and Security

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, at the recent 11 th International Meeting of High-level Security Representatives and the Council Meeting of Russian Foreign Ministry, censured the West for seriously threatening world peace and security by means of unilateral sanctions against and interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states, expansion of aggressive military blocs, and destruction of the multilateral system.

He underlined that today’s international relations are practically undergoing fundamental and great changes, the era when specific states used to dominate other countries has permanently ended, and the world is confidently advancing towards a fairer and multi-polarized future.

He continued as follows:

New multilateral international organizations like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS and the Eurasia Economic Union are making active contributions to forming a more equal, durable and comprehensive world structure. On the contrary, the U.S. and the Western countries, denying this objective reality, are conducting indiscriminate acts of unilateral sanctions and intelligence wars against sovereign states to realize their wild ambition for world domination.

He also exposed and condemned the U.S. for deliberately wrecking Europe’s security system and posing intolerable threats to Russia by consecutively withdrawing from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty and the Treaty on Open Skies, and pursuing the NATO’s provocative line of eastward expansion.

He strongly maintained that, given the current situation where the West continues to pursue a destructive line, regional and international security systems beyond the control of the U.S. and its followers be established through practical leverage of cooperation.
