The Eighth Conference of Ideological Workers of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held in February Juche 103 (2014).
In his speech made at the conference, Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the WPK, stressed the need to launch vigorous socialist emulation drives in sectors, units and regions and by stages so as to ensure that a strong wind of collective competition sweeps the whole country, and to organize competition for creating units that lead the times and overtaking them.
It is his intention to further speed up the advance of the Korean revolution by dint of collective competition by bringing into play the might of socialism, the might of collectivism.
Kim Jong Un continued his guidance trips to different parts of the country to raise the hot wind of collective competition.
One December day in Juche 105 (2016), he visited the Wonsan Army-People Power Station. Speaking highly of the fact that Kangwon Province had built the power station by its own efforts, he put it forward as a model unit to be followed by others in the country.
He visited the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Silk Mill several times, including in June that year, and led it to keep exalting the honour as a model factory and unit.
During his visit to the Songdowon General Foodstuff Factory in July Juche 107 (2018), he praised it as its products have found their way across the country as well as the province and their quality is as good as those of foodstuff factories in the capital city of Pyongyang. And he underscored the need to bring about upsurge in production and expand achievements through the hot wind to overtake and learn from others by conducting vigorous competition between counterparts across the country.
While guiding the master plans for Kanggye and Manpho cities in May Juche 108 (2019), he stressed the need for provincial, city and county Party committees to effect the campaign for bringing about fundamental face-lifting of local cities through competitive work of building the provincial, city and county seats as suited to their specific features and looks of their own local areas, in keeping with the stirring reality where monumental structures mushroom across the country.
Today the collective competition serves as a powerful driving force for socialist construction.
