One July day in Juche 104 (2015), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited an airport on the east coast of Korea.
That day, he said to an accompanying official on organization of a sightseeing flight.
He said that flight tour over the capital city of Pyongyang was organized for the people despite the difficult situation in the country after the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950-July 1953), giving the task of studying the organization of sightseeing flight well and reporting relevant problems arising in its organization.
A few days later, he called the official again and said that he had conducted a simulated flight along a sightseeing flight route set up by the then Air Koryo Administration.
As a matter of fact, the official had set a flight route along the edge of Pyongyang, giving priority to economic calculation along with the security of the city.
Kim Jong Un stressed the need to set the flight route over Pyongyang to make people enjoy a bird’s-eye view of ever-changing city, and that other routes should be set up more to tour the West Sea Barrage and other scenic spots, including Mt Kuwol when the season is good, so that the people can feast their eyes on the beautiful natural scenery of the country to their heart’s content.
He also said that sightseeing flight route should be widened, once it was designed to organize for the people so that they would enjoy it.
In this way, the route included famous scenic spots including the West Sea Barrage and Mt Kuwol as well as the central part of Pyongyang.
Later, he visited the then Air Koryo Administration again and said as many monumental edifices of our era have been built along the banks of the Taedong River recently, our people would be pleased to see ever-changing Pyongyang while doing sightseeing tour by plane.
Then he gave meticulous guidance as to the selection of planes to be mobilized for sightseeing flight, advertisement related to its organization, the issue of organizing demonstration flights with senior officials to study how to make our people more pleased, and the issue of serving the people with national dishes and other famous dishes after flying.
Thus, on November 8, Juche 104 (2015), a sightseeing plane carrying people flew in the sky of the country.
