The 2024 Spring National Sports Festival closed in the DPRK.
Men and women players of Amnokgang, Pyongyang and Chongchongang sports clubsand Amnokgang and Samilpho defence sports clubs set ten new national records inweightlifting, shooting and track-and-field events of the festival.
The April 25 Team won the men's football and men's and women's basketballand volleyball events, and the Pyongyang Municipal Taekwon-Do Team and theRyongaksan Taekwon-Do Team the men's and women's Taekwon-Do team sparringevents respectively.
A closing ceremony took place at the Basketball Gymnasium on ChongchunStreet in Pyongyang on April 18.
Present there were Kim Il Guk, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, KimMyong Gun, chairman of the Korean Taekwon-Do Committee, officials in the fieldof sports, sportspersons and the citizens of Pyongyang.
New record medals were awarded to those players who set new nationalrecords in the festival, and trophies and medals to the successful units and players.
Kim Il Guk delivered a closing address.
The speaker said thatall players and coaches should train harder and further intensify instruction and training on the basis of modern sports science and technologywith a burning ambition to fly the national flag high in the sky of the world.
He stressed the need for the sports science research field to set ambitiousand practical research goals, work hard to attain them and provide players withscientific and technical guarantee for achieving their goals.
