Some days ago, “Newsweek” reported that a wave of mass shootings over the first weekend of June left nine people dead and at least 64 injured across various American cities. It continued as follows:

Between May 31 and June 2, mass shootings took place in Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina and several other American states.

The shooting with the most casualties happened in Akron, Ohio.

On early June 2, a gunman jumped into a birthday party with over 200 attendees and blindly fired at them, leaving one person dead and 24 others injured. This incident threw the international society into consternation.

The Akron police said that they are investigating the circumstances and have not yet made any arrests or confirmed any motive for the shooting.

At around the same time, a separate incident occurred in Columbus, Ohio, leaving one man dead and three people injured. No suspects have been identified.

Meanwhile in Louisville, Kentucky, six teenagers were injured in a shooting at a party. In St. Louis, Missouri, at least 90 shots were fired outside a bar injuring seven people.

In South Carolina, a neighborhood block party turned violent with a 44-year old woman and a 21-year-old man killed. Other mass shootings in Arizona, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Michigan resulted in the tragedy of 6 deaths and dozens injured over the first week of June.

The U.S. Gun Violence Archive said that more than 192 mass shootings have been recorded so far this year and lamented that people spend every moment of their lives with uneasiness and fear due to the increasing gun violence.
