Kim Ryon Hui, a doctor at Hadang Polyclinic No. 2 in Hyongjesan District, Pyongyang, is well versed in bee-toxin therapy.

It was over 20 years ago when she started to use bee toxin for treatment.

Once on her regular round to a neighbourhood unit, Kim came to know that a resident had been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis for several years. She fell into deep thought after being told that the resident used every possible Western medicine but in vain. In the course of consulting existing documents, she found that bee toxin is effective in treating arthritis. She enrolled for a study-while-you-work course to obtain information on medicinal materials good for treating arthritis and its therapies, while seeking assistance from experts about the application of bee toxin.

She became a bee-keeper as she intensified the research into bee toxin. A helping hand came from her husband Jo Chol Jin who worked at the Sokjon Polyclinic. They pooled their wisdom to use living bees for the treatment and, in the course of this, they had some success. But the therapy of using living bees was confined to particular seasons.

Kim made painstaking efforts to overcome the shortcomings and she finally succeeded in developing a new bee-toxin injection, which was highly appreciated at the 33rd and 34th national sci-tech festivals successively.

The injection can be applied to a wide range of treatment as it is based on the active mechanism of bee toxin. As a natural medicine, it has greatly positive effects on the prevention and treatment of disorders of nervous, blood circulatory, endocrine and digestive systems, including arthritis, sciatica, high blood pressure, cardiac neurosis, atrophic gastritis, chronic enteritis and colitis, bronchitis, spontaneous gangrene, autonomic imbalance, alopecia areata and bursitis.

According to the director of Hadang Polyclinic No. 2, the injection helps strengthen the cardiac function dozens of times compared with haw and it dilutes the blood to promote blood circulation and lowers the cholesterol level in the blood, proving remarkably effective in the treatment of arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure and cerebral thrombosis.

After receiving the bee-toxin therapy, a child who had not been able to walk for seven years started to walk to school, a man who had been partly paralyzed for 14 years recovered in 40-odd days, and a patient who had been suffering from cervical spondylosis for 15 years, got a fist-sized proud flesh on the cervical vertebrae removed in four months and high blood pressure treated at the same time.

Kim Chun Sil, a woman resident in Ragwon-dong, Pothonggang District, who witnessed her daughter recovering from an illness that had harassed her for several years, said that the bee-toxin injection is so magical.
