A meeting of the National Emergency Response Committee was held through video conferencing on the 22nd.
The meeting was guided by Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Jon Hyon Chol, Secretary of the Party Central Committee.
Present there were members of the National Emergency Response Committee and officials of the commissions, ministries, national agencies, armed forces organs, provincial, city and county Party and government bodies and agricultural guidance institutions.
The meeting summed up the work for natural disaster crisis control in the first half of the year.
A report was made at the meeting.
The report mentioned the successes made in the work for further strengthening the natural disaster warning system to promptly cope with the sudden disaster crises such as typhoon, earthquake and tidal waves and for raising the consciousness of the officials, inhabitants and employees in coping with them.
It quoted facts to strictly analyze and review the deviations revealed in the work for natural disaster crisis control in the first half of the year and their causes.
It was emphasized at the meeting that all the officials should establish perfect natural disaster crisis control system of their sectors and units and thus carry through the decisions of the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee.
The meeting stressed that all sectors including the electric power and coal industries, land and environment protection, urban management and railway transport should find out all the dangerous spots and objects and take practical and timely measures and establish a well-organized warning and information system and grasping and reporting system for coping with the natural disaster crisis.
