Seed storehouses with large capacity have been newly built in different parts of the country.
In particular, wheat and barley seeds storage capacity has been increased and the scientific level of seeds management raised to fully provide seeds of good species.
The Agricultural Commission and the provincial rural economy committees sent cities and counties standard designs and evaluation standards for the construction of seed storehouses.
Kangnyong, Ongjin and Anak counties in South Hwanghae Province stepped up the construction projects with main emphasis on ensuring quality.
In particular, Chongdan County introduced a control system for measuring the temperature and humidity of the storehouses in real time with the help of the county committee of science and technology and furnished them with advanced testing equipment.
The city of Jongju in North Phyongan Province has newly built a modern seed examination centre. Unjon County completed the construction of a 1 000-ton capacity storehouse and the pavement of its yard in a matter of 40 days and, on this basis, channeled efforts into installing automatic temperature and humidity control device and providing testing apparatuses.
South Phyongan, North and South Hamgyong and other provinces have also pushed ahead with this work, achieving remarkable successes.
