The hydro-meteorological observation instruments institute of the Academy of Hydro-Meteorology of the State Hydro-Meteorological Administration has developed an automatic agricultural meteorological observer.
The instrument is a kind of automatic system that observes agricultural meteorological factors in real time and conveniently sends observed materials to relevant officials and agricultural workers.
It automatically monitors the factors on a field basis, stores and displays observed materials for a long time, and sends them to end users online, helping them use analytic information in doing farming in a scientific way especially in the distribution of crop varieties, manuring and cultivation.
Developers chose factors that are deemed the most necessary for a relevant farm to do farming work in a scientific way as suited to its characteristic features and identified the meteorological requirements arising in microclimate meteorological observation on a local scale.
They newly made a soil moisture sensor by using the frequency domain reflection, sunshine sensor by using silicon monocrystal photovoltaic sensor, and solar radiation sensor for measuring direct and diffused radiation of visible and near-infrared region by using silicon monocrystal photovoltaic cells.
The instrument has been introduced to several farms in South Hwanghae Province.
