Children’s Miserable Lot

West Coast Exchange, North Korea Watcher Conference, Sept. 2026

Of late, the Federation of Actors for the Solidarity and the UNICEF Office in France reported joint findings that about 2,000 homeless children including 467 under 3 slept in the streets of France in the period of 19 th to 20 th of August.

The representative of the UNICEF Office in France, at an interview with the local news agency, blamed the French government for its open violation of the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, saying that such a phenomenon is getting worse year by year and it is intolerable to treat children in this way.

People engaged in this survey said that a new phenomenon was found this year where women slept in the streets of several cities holding new-born babies in their arms, holding that the figure of about 2,000 is an underestimate in actual fact.

Meanwhile, it was disclosed that about 60 children on average were punished for racial discrimination every day in British schools in 2023, causing concern of international society.

Among those punished are said to include 7 four-year-old preschool children and over 1,400 primary schoolchildren.

In this regard, some parents have filed a complaint to the government saying it is negligent in taking an adequate step to abolish the act of racial discrimination in schools.

Faced with this reality, the Labour Government which came to power is only busy evading its responsibility while shifting the blame onto the former conservative government for sharp increase in the number of “destructive acts” in schools in recent years.

The children in the capitalist society sleep under the open sky instead of a snug cradle, being marginalized in society, and suffer a miserable life under the ever-looming threats of all social evils such as racial discrimination and the law of jungle, not living in love and affection.

No flowers can bloom without the sun and no flesh fruit can be expected from the arid land. The same is the truth in case of the fate of the children in the capitalist society whose social system is anti-popular in nature and fraught with contradiction in itself.
