The old people in our country are enjoying a happy life and standing high in society thanks to the most superior policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) on protecting them. They are greeting significantly the International Day of Older Persons on October 1.

As our Party respects them as revolutionary forerunners and seniors while showing deep affection and care to them, the nursing homes are filled with boundless gratitude for our Party all year round, telling happy stories about our big socialist family every day.

Despite his tight schedule of continued journey dedicated for the people, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un personally initiated the building of Pyongyang Old People's Home and saw to it that it was built as a model structure in the era of the Workers’ Party. He also took every step to provide admirable homes for the old people throughout the country.

When he gave on-the-spot guidance to the rugged construction site of Pyongyang Old People's Home, he left valuable words that the nursing home should be built into a fabulous building outfitted with facilities and fixtures to ensure that the elderly people enjoy a diverse range of physical and emotional life and do fitness activities suited to their physical and mental conditions.

On 1 August 2015, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited Pyongyang Old People's Home, a gable-roofed building of Korean architecture standing on the bank of the scenic river Taedong.

He acquainted himself with details of the construction work and operation preparations, and noted that our Party’s policy on protecting the elderly must be pursued in the thoroughgoing and proper manner.

True to his noble intention, rest home projects were pushed forward in real earnest all over the country.

Nursing homes alive with local characteristics and peculiarities were built in the picturesque spots in a short span of time in South Hwanghae, South Hamgyong and Ryanggang Provinces, Nampho and Rason Cities, and so on, ensuring a happy new life for the aged who are enjoying a blessed life receiving love and respect as the revolutionary forerunners and seniors even in their advanced ages.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un showed deep attention to the life of the old people. He gave warm love and care to them and ensured that a good fisheries station was built to supply fishes exclusively to the nursing homes in the country. He also fully solved even the small issues arising in its operation.

While it has become a social and national custom to take good care of the people who are entitled to social care thanks to paternal love and care of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , those in nursing homes become the first beneficiaries of early vegetables, fruits, fishes, nutritious foods and rare tonics.

The fine nursing homes built in different parts of the country under the warm care of our Party are overfilled with laughter and singing of the aged who are leading a happy and healthy life. Happy news about the centenarians receiving birthday spreads from respected Comrade Kim Jong Un tug at heartstrings of the people in every nook and cranny of the country.

The nursing homes are associated with the devoted service for the people by respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , who regards the aged living in our Party’s tender loving care as the revolutionary forerunners and treasures. In the look of the aged enjoying the remainder of their life in nursing homes, we can see the advantages of the socialist system of our style, and this will remain forever in the development history of our Republic.
