The Workers’ Party of Korea is the longest-serving ruling party in the world.

For decades since it was founded on October 10, 1945 it has advanced along the road of victory without any deviations. This is attributable to the fact that it has taken its root deep in the soil—people.

In the formulation and implementation of all its policies it has held fast to the principle of giving the top and absolute priority to the people’s interests and convenience and ensured all social wealth are directed to promoting their well-being as it works to provide them with cultured living conditions.

Its guiding ideology can be defined as the people-first ideology, the main thrust of which is to put them forward as the masters of the revolution and construction, rely on them and make selfless and devoted efforts for their good, and its ultimate principle is to steadily improve their material and cultural life.

As it defines it as its revolutionary traits to serve them devotedly and brings all their wishes into full bloom, they call it their mother and follow and support it of their own accord.

Having set the steadfast defence of the people’s dignity and destiny as its most important task, it works hard to carry it out.

It has expanded the nation’s defence capabilities to enable the people to enjoy all kinds of happiness generation after generation without experiencing the ravages of war. It has consolidated the foundations of the self-sufficient economy to make the people and their posterity live proudly without banking on other’s help.

It has got over all sorts of setbacks in its way with an unusual sense of responsibility for the destiny of the people and a firm determination. Thanks to its struggle, the dignity and status of the Korean people have been elevated to the highest-ever point.

Witnessing the reality in which their dignity and safety are firmly guaranteed in the face of harsh trials, the Korean people keenly realize that the WPK is the embrace of the great mother, separated from which they cannot live even a moment.

The WPK has worked devotedly to provide the people with a better life.

Modern streets and houses are being built every year in the capital city of Pyongyang and rural areas although the country is still in difficulties. This fact tells eloquently the WPK’s spirit of devoted service for the people.

When the Party works with devotion for the sake of the people, the latter will follow the former with all their hearts.

Thus the Korean people turn out as one in the effort to carry out the Party’s plans as they regard it as an undertaking for their own happiness.
