Landscaping and afforestation campaign is under way in Pyongyang to create environment-friendly living space for its citizens and add beauty to the nature. As autumn sets in, beautifully decked places can be seen in different parts of the capital city.
There is a park beside the Pothonggang Seafood Shop in Moranbong District.
Visitors are fascinated by the park covered with a grove of good species of trees and flowers.
The park is featured by rows of trees of different colours and sections of figures made with trees.
The Fish Section with “fishes” and “coral reeves,” all formed with trees, makes the visitors feel as if fishes were swimming around. Juniper and other species of trees take on circular, conical and other geometric shapes.
Wisteria floribunda and other kinds of trees are arranged around the tables beside food stall in the park. In hot summer people drink soft drinks under the shade given by the trees.
“Whenever I see people enjoy the park, I feel pride in what we have done for them. The word people depicted with the tree Spiraea prunifolia var represents the minds of all the employees of our shop,” said Ri Myong Hwa, the manageress of the shop.
