Recently, the U.S. Department of Defence ratified 1 billion and 988 million US$ worth of military goods sale for Taiwan including a ground-to-air missile system and radar system. In this regard, China expressed its denunciation.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Defence Ministry answered the questions of journalists on a series of military issues.
He pointed out that the U.S. arms sale to Taiwan seriously violates the principle of one China and the regulation of the Sino-U.S. three common communiqué, infringes upon the sovereignty and security interests of China, severely destroys the Sino-U.S. relations and the peace and stability of the Taiwan straits and it also sends a wrong signal to “Taiwan Independence” force.
He continued that Taiwan issue is the core interest of China and the first red line that should not be crossed in the Sino-U.S. relations, and the U.S. should be clearly aware of the fact that arming Taiwan will cause a serious consequence like digging its own grave.
He also strongly urged the U.S. not to go any further along the wrong road.
In conclusion, he stressed that Chinese People’s Liberation Army will firmly defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state by continuously bolstering up combat readiness and exercise, and comprehensively enhancing the ability to win the battle.
