The DPRK weightlifters returned home after fully demonstrating the honour of the country at the 2024 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships held in Bahrain.
They bagged a total of 45 medals including 26 golds, 13 silvers and 6 bronzes and took the first place in the medal standings of the countries and regions at the championships.
They won the women's team cup (first place) and the men's team cup (third place) and Kim Il Gyong received the best player award.
The weightlifters were greeted at the Pyongyang International Airport on the 19th by Vice-Premier Kim Myong Hun, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Kim Il Guk, Director of the Public Catering Service Guidance Bureau Ri Yong Min who is Chairman of the Weightlifting Association, officials in the sports field and families of weightlifters.
Sportspeople put garlands around the necks of the weightlifters and coaches and presented them with bouquets.
A lot of citizens in the streets of the capital city sent warm congratulations to the laudable weightlifters who rocked the world weightlifting circles.
