OnAugust 8 2015 the drizzlingrain, which had begun to fall some timebefore, wetted theshoulders of General Secretary KimJong Un who was on afield inspection tour ofa region.
The accompanying officials tried to hold an umbrella over him, but he willingly exposed himselfto the rain with a quitesatisfied expression, saying delightedly that it was raining from the clear sky of the DPRK and he felt the rain asconfetti wishing its women footballers victory at the match of the day.
Onthe night of thatday when the final match was played, theGeneral Secretary watched a live broadcast of the match from the beginning to the end.
Heinwardly encouraged the players every moment, wishing them triumphantreturn home. At last thematch ended in the victory of the DPRK team.
When the whistle of the chief referee sounded todeclare the end of the match, he exclaimed with pleasure “We won!” and said thathe felt like hugging and giving the footballers and head coach a piggyback.
Then he immediately gave instructions to welcome the players well.
Aftera while, looking at the accompanying officials, he told them to let the women footballers get off the plane with national flags draped over their shoulders.
Theofficials now felt a lump in their throat.
The following day the General Secretary called officials to emphasize again the needto welcome the playerswell before givinginstructions tosend national flags to them byplane and repeatedly asking the officials to let the players get off the plane with nationalflags draped overtheir shoulders.
Thusthe national flags for the players and coaches were specially made and sent to them by plane. And there wasunfolded an impressivescene of their being held in the embrace of the great father, the embrace of the country,with national flags draped over their shoulders.
