In recent years the Pyongyang Higher Educational Books Printing Plant has annually been introducing dozens of technical innovations into production.
The secret to this success is that its employees are acquiring latest science and technology and specialized knowledge in the sci-tech learning space of the plant.
Officials and employees alike are regular visitors to the sci-tech learning space.
“When I encounter a problem while in work, I always visit the learning space to seek a solution. It opens the door to original ideas and teaches me a shortcut to success,” said Song Chol Gu, leader of the rotary press workteam of the printing workshop. He is called a “worker inventor” as he has come up with more than 10 inventions.
An employee at the bookbinding workshop said that in the learning space he could easily acquire knowledge that would take him a long time to accumulate.
“The knowledge I have gained in the learning space helps me tackle many of the problems arising in the production. While working I learn, and I work while learning. It is the ‘classroom in workplace’ which makes work more worthwhile,” said another employee at the engineering workshop.
In the course of staying up to date with latest sci-tech knowledge, an increasing number of employees have conceived valuable ideas and innovations.
Last year alone, the factory applied over 10 technical innovations to enhance productivity of the printing facilities, thereby carrying out an urgent task of printing textbooks earlier than the set date.
Some of the technical ideas and sci-tech achievements made by its employees have been highly appreciated at national sci-tech festivals, exhibitions and presentations.
As a result, the factory has overfulfilled its production plan every year and it was honoured to become a unit with model sci-tech learning space in August last year.
