Among the scientists who were selected as national top scientists and technicians of 2024 is Kim Kyong Su, PhD and head of the electric power information institute under the Ministry of Electric Power Industry.
Several years ago, he established a national integrated power control system that can help maximize electricity production by rationally tapping all energy resources under the unified guidance of the state, ensure the stability of the power system operation and monitor and control the processes of the production and consumption of electricity.
In a bid to complete the national integrated electric power management system on a higher level, the research team led by him has realized the optimization of power transmission and supply system on the basis of electric geographical information system, introduced hundreds of original high-efficiency protection devices and established a system of protecting, monitoring and controlling electric power network and a system of managing the load of electric power.
The successive development and introduction of branch systems on the basis of the establishment of the national integrated power management system has raised the level of scientification and modernization of the power industry.
In recognition of his tangible contribution to easing the strain on power supply, the government invited him to several national events and conferences and honoured him with doctorate.
Kim often says to the scientists of new generations that they should become scientists who volunteer to take on heavy tasks for the prosperity of the country and devote themselves to carrying them out.
