Recently the Korean sportspeople have achieved good results in international competitions, flying their national flag in foreign countries and bringing honour to their country. Their successes are partly associated with the sincere efforts of the employees of the Tansang Sportswear Manufactory.

The apparel maker produces a wide assortment of clothes for the members of the national teams to wear in matches and training and on formal occasions.

When it was formed more than ten years ago, the maker directed primary attention to standardizing the sportswear of various events.

“We visited several training grounds to see sportspeople train themselves. While doing so we found they vary in physique according to events and each of them cares a lot about their uniforms,” said Ho Pom Sun, manager of the manufactory.

As to artistic gymnastics, jersey is more important for horizontal bar players, while pants are so for vault players. For weightlifters and wrestlers their dungarees need to fit tightly. What matters here is how to determine the elasticity on the part that needs to endure high tensile strength according to the characteristics of the fabrics. In the archery and shooting events a millimetre of deflection may amount up to 10 centimetres off the target. It is therefore important how much extra space is given in deciding the size for every part of the uniforms, she added.

On the basis of such findings the manufactory put the choice of fabrics according to each event on an IT basis and worked out the processing methods while setting the sewing stitch number and adjusting tension of needle in consideration of the elastic and other features of fabrics. They made various patterns and colours, mainly red, blue and white symbolic of the national flag, well-matched enough to retain sports spirit and symbolize the strong desire to win victory.

They produce hundreds of kinds of professional sports uniforms of scores of categories and try to steadily increase their variety.

At the 2024 FIFA U-20 and U-17 Women’s World Cups and the 33rd Olympic Games held last year, the Korean sportspeople wore the uniforms they made.

Woman footballer Choe Il Son, winner of the most valuable player and top scorer awards, said that she feels proud and inspired when she attends a competition wearing the uniform made by the manufactory and that she likes most the Tansang-brand uniforms.

The manufactory also produces other sports uniforms for leisure activities of the people.

Uniforms for domestic sports competitions and for the employees of various units and enterprises are available on order.

The manufactory’s products are highly appreciated at annual garment shows.
