China Urges to Stop Inciting “Taiwan Independence” Forces

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China made strong protests as regards the recent trip to Japan by the head of Taiwan’s foreign affairs department and the visit to Taiwan by a U.S. congressional delegation scheduled this August.

The spokesperson denounced that Japan provided a platform for “Taiwan independence” forces to engage in anti-China separatist activities by allowing the head of Taiwan’s so-called foreign affairs department to make a trip to Japan. This year marks the 80 th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the World Anti-Fascist War, and the restoration of Taiwan, he said and urged Japan to deeply reflect on and learn lessons from history and to act all the more prudently on the Taiwan question.

As regards the fact that a U.S. congressional delegation will visit Taiwan in August, the spokesperson reiterated China’s firm opposition against official interactions in any form between the U.S. and the Taiwan region:

There is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. China calls on the U.S. to abide by the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiqués, stop interfering in China’s internal affairs with any excuse, stop supporting “Taiwan independence” separatist forces, stop its official interactions with Taiwan, and stop stirring up tensions in the Taiwan Strait.
