Do people like it? This was what Chairman Kim Jong Il always asked during his inspection tours.
On December 3, 2006, he visited Migok village in Sariwon City, North Hwanghae Province, which was renovated into a socialist fairyland.
When he stepped into a terraced house, he looked satisfactorily at household utensils and had an amicable talk with the householder and his wife.
Back outside, he took a pleasant look at the dwelling houses whose gabled roofs were designed to resemble a flying crane, and expressed great satisfaction saying that their styles varied and their designs and construction were flawless. He then asked if the farmers liked them.
Having heard from an official that farmers were happy with them, he had a big smile on his face.
When he visited the newly built Pothongmun Street Meat and Fish Shop in September 2011, he was most concerned for how the people liked it.
Looking round the counter selling various kinds of meat and processed meat, he asked if the people liked those processed meat.
The shop manageress told him that women liked them more as they could prepare the meal by using them with ease. Upon hearing it, he cracked a huge smile.
On the first Sunday of December 2011, the last period of his great life, Kim Jong Il visited the Amusement Park of the Kaeson Youth Park to learn about its operation.
Satisfied to hear from an official that amusement facilities were in normal operation and public catering establishments ran well, he made his way to the area of amusement facilities.
On his way to the vertical swing he said the amusement facilities needed to be put into operation and all the officials accompanying him should ride the facilities.
Seeing for a good while officials on the facility swinging from left to right, he warmly asked if many people came to take the ride and if they liked it.
An official replied that people liked it very much and they were reluctant to leave the place. Kim Jong Il said that he was also pleased to hear that.
