The DPRK reliably guarantees the people-oriented politics of the socialist state by adopting laws, regulations and rules in a scientific way and amending and supplementing them in time in reflection of the reality in which revolution and construction proceed apace.
Over the past five years alone, at least 130 laws, especially on distance education, social insurance and social security, childcare, socialist rural development, offshore farming and landscaping, have been newly instituted with hundreds of laws amended and supplemented.
The Law of the DPRK on Distance Education adopted in April 2020 stipulates that a well-knit system and order of distance education shall be established so that all members of society can have access to higher education while in work, thereby allowing all the working people to acquire sci-tech knowledge to their heart’s content.
The Law of the DPRK on Social Insurance and Social Security was enacted in March 2021, further legalizing the social benefits that had already been provided at state and public expense.
With the adoption of the Law of the DPRK on Childcare, the state takes full responsibility for setting up a well-regulated system of producing and supplying children’s nutritious foodstuffs, distributing dairy products and other nutritious foods to all the children free of charge and on a regular basis and providing the best childcare conditions.
Those who have lost their abilities to work, old people with no one to rely on and persons with disabilities are leading a worthwhile life while benefiting from people-oriented policies and laws.
The Law of the DPRK on the Provision of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was adopted in September 2023 to lay a legal foundation for providing the persons with disabilities with better working and living conditions and further promoting the climate of helping them across society.
The newly instituted sectoral laws, such as those on light industry, preferential treatment of families with several children, protection of the marine ecological environment, intellectual property rights and grain storage, are all designed to ensure a stable and improved living environment and conditions for the people.
Besides, the existing sectoral laws, especially on protection of environment, public health and prevention of air pollution, have been amended and supplemented to meet the requirements of the developing reality, thus guaranteeing the people’s rights and interests at a high level.
