The Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace is a comprehensive extracurricular educational base for schoolchildren.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the palace in May 2014 to take measures for renovating it into the world’s unparalleled palace for children.
After the palace was successfully remodelled as required by the new century, he visited it in November 2015 and learned in detail about its renovation. Later, he ensured that modern educational equipment, musical instruments and sports equipment were sent to the palace.
Over 1.32 million schoolchildren have conducted their extracurricular activities at the palace over the past decade since its renovation.
During the period, thousands of them have grown to be promising scientists, artistes and sportspersons, more than 1 400 persons with state certificates of technical skills among them.
Group members of the palace won four gold and two silver medals in the juvenile event at the 23rd ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships and a special prize at the 33rd international children’s and juveniles’ art works festival, and many others brought glory to their country in the international arena.
At least 400 artistic performances took place at the palace, including the performance given in celebration of the 70th founding anniversary of the Korean Children’s Union.
After seeing a performance of the palace’s group members on their visit to the Maritime Territory of Russia in May this year, local teachers at Vladivostok spoke highly of their performance in playing the accordion, bayan and national musical instruments, saying that not only in Russia but also other countries many would be surprised to see only one or two such prodigies and many Korean children are as skilful as professionals.
The group members of the palace were acclaimed by the audience by excelling at the performance celebrating the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation and at the mass gymnastics and artistic performance held in celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea. Both events were attended by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .
The palace is still helping numerous schoolchildren spread their wings.
