The 14th Asian Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships took place in India from October 31 to November 2 last year.
DPRK players Ro Hye Song and Ryu Il Chon won three gold medals with the highest scores in each event in the history of the championships.
They are well known in the country’s acrobatic gymnastics circle.
Ro took the first place in the women’s duo combined performance at the 11th Asian Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships in 2019 and came third both in the balancing and combined performances of the mixed pair event at the 29th FIG World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships in 2024.
Ryu also has proved successful several times at domestic competitions.
Ro and Ryu, the mixed pair, have shown their forte in spatial rotation and support, respectively.
However, experience and forte do not necessarily guarantee the easy combination between players.
They completed the movements in six months of pairing, considering the honour of the country more important than their own.
The pair took part in the 14th Asian Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships and showed high-grade movements in the balancing, dynamic and combined categories of mixed pair event.
The chairperson of the acrobatic gymnastics committee of the Asian Gymnastic Federation said that Ro Hye Song and Ryu Il Chon looked as if they descended from heaven and their performance was as beautiful as flowers, adding that their participation made the current championships more successful.
