The following happened when the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the completed Pyongyang General Hospital in February 2025.
After making the rounds of different places of the hospital to acquaint himself in detail with the construction as a whole, he said that the design sector should lead other sectors at the present time when the scope of construction is steadily expanding and the struggle for achieving comprehensive national rejuvenation is being accelerated.
The design of an architectural structure should reflect the great ideology and ennobling political creed of our times and the aspiration to higher ideals and civilization, he noted, adding that in this sense, it can be said that designers are “political artists” who draw the ideas and policies of the WPK in reality.
When he visited the remodelled Paektusan Institute of Architecture years ago, he said that the institute is a model and standard for the design institutions in the country and that it should go ahead of other design organs. All the designers should fully reflect socialist civilization and the ideals and dreams of people in the era of the Workers’ Party in each dot and each line on their designs, holding aloft the slogan that they should become patriotic artists, he continued.
