The workers of the Sangwon Cement Complex are speeding up their advance towards the implementation of the new five-year plan set forth at the Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea in February this year.
Since the complex was established in 1984 as a model cement producer in the DPRK, it has overfulfilled its production plan every year, making a positive contribution to socialist construction.
In recent five years alone, it has significantly boosted the output to guarantee the remarkable progress and overall upsurge in socialist construction and reached its peak since its inauguration with expanded production capacity and steady boost in output.
In 2025, in particular, it produced more cement, ten times as much as the amount of the increased output in the previous year.
Its workers are always burning with a fierce determination to take the lead in implementing the intentions and plans of the Party.
That is why they were the first to respond to the appeal of the Party at the 11th Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee in December 2024 when it set forth a task of completing more monumental structures of the times more wonderfully in 2025 and called for increased cement production to this end.
On March 1 this year, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the workers of the complex ahead of others soon after the Ninth Party Congress.
There are a number of large and important enterprises in our country, but none of them has such a group of staunch and militant workers as the Sangwon workers, he said as he spoke in front of them.
He highly appreciated the 40-odd-year history of the complex, which has added lustre to its appellation as a powerful enterprise that is able to do anything it decides to do, and particularly the success which it attained during the term of the Eighth Party Central Committee as it strongly supported through practical cement production the Party’s plan for achieving remarkable progress and overall upsurge in socialist construction and opened up the greatest heyday of operation since its inauguration by expanding its production capacity and making constant efforts for increased production.
