Over the past five years numerous flats and monumental structures have been built in the capital city of Pyongyang.
For the completion of them, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un went over numerous layouts to refine them.
As to the project for Songhwa Street inaugurated in April 2022, he examined over 1 000 layouts, pointing to the need to modernly redesign the profile of the flats, make the heights of buildings different from each other while connecting the platforms in a big way, set up a building-style overpass that runs across the road and arrange buildings with piercing space as well.
He unveiled a blueprint for building new streets in the Hwasong area of Pyongyang and led the project to success.
While checking as many as 1 630 technical drawings concerning the first-stage project in the Hwasong area, he referred to the need to raise the ratio of dry plastering so as to add modernity to the beauty of the town and build all catering and commercial facilities and neighbourhood-serving amenities within the residential quarter and link the branch roads to the trunk road to promote the convenience of the residents.
He went through approximately 1 000 layouts so that the second-stage district in the Hwasong area could be built into a stylish street as befits an urban quarter and a model of the times. And he also helped bring over 660 designs into completion in such a way as to distinguish the third-stage district from the previous ones.
From the Songhwa Street project to the fourth-stage 10 000-flat project in the Hwasong area, he visited the construction sites more than ten times to ensure that the Workers’ Party of Korea’s people-first ideal on architecture is embodied in each of the structures. Such devotion resulted in one ideal street of people being built after another from one year to the next.
Therefore, the 50 000-flat construction programme in Pyongyang set forth by the Eighth Party Congress was exceedingly carried out and the capital city construction has switched from the phase that was basically aimed at solving the housing problem over to a new, higher phase of transforming the overall appearance of the city on a large scale.
