Today, the DPRK is constantly holding fast to the people-first principle in making vigorous efforts to bring forward the bright future of socialism, the ideal of people, in reliance upon their strength.

President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il made devoted efforts to develop the DPRK into a genuine country of people where they are the masters of everything and everything serves them. Regarding the idea of believing in the people as in heaven as the fundamentals of nation-building and the starting point of working out all lines and policies, they ensured that the most people-oriented socialist policies came into effect, and never allowed such privileges of practices as infringing upon the people’s interests and abusing the power invested by the people while lording it over them.

Free education, free medical care, provision of the housing free of charge, systems for nursing and upbringing of children, and accommodation at health resorts and holiday homes at State expense, etc., are just a part of the people-oriented policies of the country.

As the great leaders wisely guided the struggle to maintain the revolutionary and popular character of the country and give full play to the advantages of socialism, the DPRK government could perform its sacred mission as the representative of the people’s right to independence, the organizer of their creative abilities and activities, the administrator responsible for their livelihood and the protector of their interests.

At present, people’s living is still faced with many bottlenecks and difficulties due to the barbarous, continuous sanctions and blockades by the hostile forces.

But the DPRK government takes responsibility for the people’s destiny and looks after them, sparing nothing for their happiness. It keeps pushing forward the gigantic undertakings to give top and absolute priority to the people’s demands and interests in all spheres of State and social life and promote their wellbeing.

It formulated the essence of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, the guiding idea of the revolution, as the people-first principle and put it forward as its most important task to apply the Juche-oriented outlook on the people, a popular philosophy, in State activities, in order to carry forward the ennobling ideas and intentions of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who devoted their all throughout their lives to the good of the people.

Today, the slogan “Everything for the people and everything by relying on them!” is seen everywhere in the DPRK. It represents the great leaders’ ideas on State building and the government’s people-first principle.

The government makes selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people and the latter display their loyalty to the former, entirely entrusting their destiny and future entirely to it.

This is the true appearance of the DPRK that embodies the people-first principle.
