Some time ago, a woman in a critical condition was carried to the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital.
She was Ri Ok Hui, a housewife. A week later, she gave birth to a premature baby.
Her family members felt delighted at the sight of her smiling face on the screen. She said, though she gave birth to a premature baby, she was healthy as she had a painless delivery under the epidural anesthesia.
This advanced method makes a pregnant woman feel no pain during delivery, prevents her from mental and physical injury due to colic, and maintains biobalance so as to ensure easy, fast and safe delivery and prevent an unborn baby from injury.
All the pregnant women in the DPRK are provided with this delivery method free of charge.
The doctors and nurses of the hospital made positive efforts for the treatment of the baby in an incubator lest it should be affected by the aftereffects of prematurity even after it has grown up, feeding it with milk added with various vitamins and tonics and administering precious medicines.
The 2-kg baby became as heavy as an ordinary one after it came out of the incubator.
The mother-in-law of Ri Ok Hui expressed her gratitude for the socialist system, saying that the premature baby could survive thanks to its people-centred healthcare system.
The doctor in charge of the baby told her that they have nothing to worry about as they have the modern Pyongyang Maternity Hospital.
