Scientists of a foreign country made public their research report that longer sleep of athletes before match can improve their physical function.
They selected male basketball players and demanded that they increase sleeping hour from two weeks before match, examining their conditions.
A few days later, they found that longer sleep brought clear improvement in the players’ jumping, scoring, running, perseverance and mental conditions, and produced better results in the match.
Experts were of the same opinion that sleep is good to relieve fatigue and restore physical fitness. When sleeping, excitation of cerebral cortex and metabolism are at the lowest level, but synthesis is rather at the considerably high level which is useful for energy accumulation in body.
Therefore, adult athletes should sleep 8-9 hours a day during the period of ordinary training, but in the period of intensive training or match, increase sleeping hour.
