Decades ago, General Kim Jong Il visited a shop in Pyongyang, capital city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
Going through the order register used in the shop, he told the accompanying official in the sector of commerce about a newlywed couple and asked if he had been to their house.
When the latter replied no, Kim Jong Il said to himself: So you don’t know whether there is a bookcase or not in their house.
The official could say nothing.
In fact, he felt pleased only in supplying the goods required by residents, but never thought of visiting their houses to find out what they needed badly.
Kim Jong Il noted that it could not be said to have met all the requirements only by writing their orders for goods in register, but for the officials to promote sincerely the convenience in the residents’ living, they should go deep among them.
The commercial officials should literally become mothers in charge of taking care of their living, he stressed.
