Kim Jong Un , General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), received a personal letter from Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (LPDR).

Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith in his letter expressed his heartfelt thanks to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un for sending a verbal message to notify the accounts of the 8th Congress of the WPK, and sent its hearty congratulations once again to the 8th Congress of the WPK on its commendable successes.

He said that he was very pleased to see that the friendly relations of long tradition between Laos and the DPRK provided by the preceding leaders have steadily developed despite the intricate regional and international situation and challenges in the past, adding that this is highly appreciated by him.

He notified in detail the accounts of the 11th Congress of the LPRP which was held from January 13 to 15.

He said that, during the period under review, the LPRP achieved  many successes and firmly ensured the political stability of the country by leading the whole nation and army and all the people while overcoming all the difficulties in the revolutionary spirit in the face of  complicated situation, adding in detail that the Congress took steps to develop the Party into the one upright, strong and sound enough to defend the country and lead the socialist construction in the new period by carrying out the Party’s political line and spurring the Party building.

He also emphasized that the Congress adopted the 9th Five-Year Plan for socio-economic development of the country and set forth it as the supreme goal of the Party to steadily consolidate and develop the people’s democratic system by respecting and giving free scope to the people’s rights as masters and to rely on the people, ensure their interests and provide them with happiness.

He said that the LPRP would continue to maintain its external line for peace, independence, friendship, development and cooperation and also expressed his firm will that the Lao Party and government would value the friendly and cooperative relations between the two Parties, states and peoples of Laos and the DPRK, which have a long tradition and are based on comradely and fraternal friendship, and would make all the efforts to further develop them.

He kindly invited Comrade Kim Jong Un to visit the LPDR at a convenient time, saying that he is looking forward to meeting him from the bottom of his heart.

He sincerely wished Comrade Kim Jong Un good health and happiness as well as successes in his noble work to lead the WPK and the Korean people in their efforts to carry out the decisions made at the 8th Congress of the WPK.
