Israel’s outrageous moves to expand its territory and acts of aggression are inviting the blame and denunciation from the international community.
It is getting more undisguised in its scheme to perpetuate its occupation of Syria’s Golan Heights.
Some time ago, it approved a plan to build houses for more than 7 300 families in the area in a special Cabinet session.
The general secretary of the League of Arab States described the plan for the expansion of Jewish settlements as a violation of international law in a press conference, adding that it has been acknowledged by international law for Syria to liberate its whole territory and achieve territorial integrity.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a statement to stress that Golan belongs to the Syrian territory by international law and it is the firm will of the government to recover it.
As is known, Israel started the Six Day War in 1967 and seized it from Syria.
Although the latter got back some parts of it in the following war, most parts are still under the aggressors’ control.
After occupying Golan, Israel built Jewish settlements there on a full scale and tempted lots of Jews into emigrating to the area. It unilaterally adopted a law on the Golan Heights in 1981 to annex them to its territory and is now scheming to perpetuate the occupation of them.
Resolutely rejecting the attempt, Syria is branding it as a flagrant breach of international law, while the international community is voicing recognition of Syria’s sovereignty over Golan.
Nevertheless, Israel is trying in every way to own it as it is a point of military and strategic importance for them, thus worsening the regional situation.
Under such situation, it made an air raid on a Syrian trade port to cause enormous material damage.
Enraged by the air raid, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates censured Israel, saying it revealed its true colours once again, while the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that the leaders of the Zionist regime do never want regional stability, security and peace.
Facts clearly prove that Israel is nothing but a stumbling block posing a serious threat to peace and stability in the Middle East.
